Lemon Cake with Sour Cream
Just like marble cake, lemon cake is considered one of the simpler desserts. But for the pastry to be good, it must be juicy and flavorful, which in this case is ensured by the addition of sour cream. Sliced into pieces, it is usually served with a cup of tea or coffee, but it can also be enjoyed with whipped cream, a scoop of ice cream, or a dollop of Greek yogurt and fruit.

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Grease a long, narrow baking pan, 23 centimeters in length and 10 centimeters in width, with butter, then line it with parchment paper to make it easier to remove the baked cake from it.

In a large bowl, add room temperature butter and sugar. Beat until the mixture becomes light and creamy, about 5-10 minutes. Mix in lemon zest and vanilla extract.

Gradually add the eggs to the mixture, one at a time. Each time you add an egg, mix well so that the ingredients combine nicely. Then mix in the lemon juice. Sift the flour together with baking powder and salt. Add half of it to the bowl with the prepared mixture. Add half of the sour cream and quickly mix. Finish with the remaining flour and sour cream.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and use a spatula to spread it evenly over the entire surface, smoothing the top. Bake the cake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes. It is done when it turns golden brown, pulls away from the sides of the pan, and a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
